Sea Turtle

This week's illustration friday topic: Aging.
I chose sea turtles to represent aging because they are so cool when they get old. They're grizzled and mellow and BIG. These suckers can get as large as 400 pounds in their later years, but they're still as graceful as can be in the water. Damn that's cool. Plus, sea turtles have been around since the time of the dinosaurs, which is pretty cool too.

Beautiful illustration Claudette. I love the tonal qualities that you created. I would love to see the darks and lights even more intense to catch the light through the water above. Excellent illo though..just great!
for a "lazy" person, you certainly spent plenty of time on the detail...love this, and love the concept...always have had a fondness myself for turtles!
cheers,
kerry
Beautiful illustration. Lovely work.
Not only is the illustration beautifully rendered, but the whole idea of age - the turtle itself and the species - is a great take on the topic. Well done!
Very VERY nice
Inmediatly look turtles, I think in a old specie. Nice illo and concept.

Thank you for the kind comments. It's always such a thrill to post this at night and wake up the next morning to feedback. What a nice crew the IF crowd is :)

Hi, I admire ur skill of color pencil! Great work you have :D
Gorgeous!
I had one swim right by me while snokeling in Maui over 10 years ago... real close. I'll never forget what a thrill it was!
Wow, this is really gorgeous! I love the colors, and you did an excellent job of capturing the light reflecting on top of the shell.
This is always one of my favorites of yours! The other is hanging on our den wall, of course, with others throughout the house.
I LOVE your work and we love you!
